How Make Up Causes Wrinkles and Ages Your Skin

Let’s face it. You wear makeup because you want to look your best. Given this fact, isn’t it ironic how make up causes wrinkles and ages your skin? Unfortunately, makeup has a problem that’s common to most skin care products. Just like the majority of face creams and lotions, makeup is made from synthetic chemicals. Let me explain why this is a problem.

The multi-billion dollar skin care industry relies on a business model of creating products from the cheapest substances and then spending millions to persuade us to buy them. I recently read a report which stated it costs a cosmetic company around 5 cents to produce a jar of cream and 6 dollars to promote it. These nickel-priced substances come in the form of synthetic chemicals.

Makeup is no different. I have an old tube of concealer which contains no less than 44 different chemicals listed on the label. Some of those include hydrogenated polyisobutene, isododecane, dimethicone, polymethyl methacrylate, tocopheryl acetatem butylene glycol, titanium dioxide and others (too hard to spell). Most face creams contain similar ingredients.

The problem is these substances are synthetic and your skin is natural. They have nothing in common which makes it possible for them to work together for the benefit of your skin.

All these substances can do is lay on the surface, creating a cosmetic film that conceals lines and wrinkles. Unfortunately, this so-called “improvement” comes at a cost to the health of your skin. Pores are clogged, cutting off natural respiration and exposing you to potential health risks.

Your cell structure is blocked from receiving fortifying nutrients which help to defend against the damage inflicted by free radicals. Once free radicals do their damage, cells no longer produce the structural proteins necessary to support an unwrinkled appearance.

Weakened cells are also defenseless against a harmful enzyme called hyaluronidase which breaks down hyaluronic acid in your skin. So even if you are producing collagen and elastin, this enzyme makes sure it loses its strength.

I guess what I’m trying to tell you is in order to have a young, healthy complexion, you must avoid using products (makeup and creams) which are made from useless ingredients. It’s similar to me telling you to support your overall health by avoiding junk food. Proper protection and nourishment is the basis for healthy skin, as well as, a healthy body.

Fortunately, just like food, you have healthy choices when it comes to skin care products. You just have to “read the label.” Look for high concentrations of clinically-tested, bio-active extracts from Nature. Some examples are avocado oil, shea butter, natural vitamin E, Co Enzyme Q10, active Manuka honey, Japanese sea algae, sheep wool extract (Cynergy TK). When you see these ingredients you’ll know you won’t be feeding your skin “junk.”

So now that you know how make up causes wrinkles and ages your skin, I’ll hope you’ll take some time to research your skin care products to ensure you’re getting the safest, most effective remedy for supporting young, healthy skin.
